Anti-viruses
An anti-virus is a program that searches the hard disk for viruses and suspicious programs and removes any that are found.Most anti-virus programs include and auto-update feature that enables the program to download profiles of new anti-virus so that it can check for the new viruses as soon as they are discovered.
Viruses
A computer virus is a program or piece of code that is loaded or downloaded onto your computer without you knowing it. All viruses are man made. A simple virus that can make a copy of itself over and over again is relatively easy to produce.the purpose of most viruses are there to steal information and private details also they are made just to corrupt your computer.if you leave a virus unchecked it will make your system slow and not running at peak performance.
Trojans
A destructive program that hides its self as another program so you think you are installing a program but in fact you are installing a Trojan. Trojans do not replicate them selves but they can be just as destructive. One of the most insidious types of Trojans is a program that claims to have cleaned your computer of viruses but instead it introduces viruses onto your computer.the purpose of them is to steal information and slow your computer down by taking up CPU usage space.
Worms
An program that replicates itself over a computer network and usually preforms malicious actions such as using up the computers resources and possibly shutting the system down.the purpose of worms are to steal your email address, identity theft and data corruption.
Firewalls
A system designed to prevent unauthorized access to or from a private network. Firewalls can be implemented in both hardware and software or a combination of both. Firewalls are frequently used to prevent unauthorized internet users from accessing private networks connected to the internet. All messages entering or leaving the internet pass through the firewall which examines each message and blocks those that do not meet the specified security criteria.this will increase the performance because it will block hackers and unwanted visitors that try to disable or steal your information this makes your system more safe and will run at top performance
Defragmentation
In the maintenance of file systems, defragmentation is a process that reduces the amount of fragmentation. It does this by physically organizing the contents of the mass storage device used to store files into the smallest number of contiguous regions.A Dos and windows utility that deframents your hard disk.this is how you get to the windows 7 disk defrag "Click the Start button. Select All Programs, then Accessories. Choose System Tools, and then select Disk Defragmenter".
Cleaner
a cleaner is a program that scans your system and removes any unwanted junk or software that is a threat to your system. the purpose of this is to clean and optimize your system.if you leave the system uncleaned the effects are slowing down your system also storage space is being used up and CPU usage is being used up. examples of are CCleaner.
